There is no substitute for homegrown tomatoes. It's the reason why tomatoes are the most popular vegetable for homeowners to grow themselves. But not all homegrown tomatoes are created equal; some are more flavorful than others. The key is knowing which varieties are more delicious, and which varieties will do the best here in Malibu. It is mid-December, and we are still harvesting tomatoes off of our vines. How is this possible?

We love growing fruits and vegetables here in Malibu, and we are  passionate about finding the best varieties for this area. We have  already discovered many, but we are still searching for more. Why?  Because it's one of the most rewarding and exciting aspects of  landscaping. People often grow their own cucumbers, squash, and lettuce.  But did you know there is so much more? Here are a few ideas:

Salsa Garden - We  plant jalapenos, garlic, onions, tomatoes and cilantro; then harvest  them all in mid-Summer so you can make your own homemade salsa.  Unbelievable!

Chili Garden  - Have  you noticed how hard it is to find fresh organic hot peppers in the grocery stores? We can grow your poblano, cayenne, serrano, jalapeno, and habanero peppers in your own backyard so you'll have a steady supply  of fresh chilis year-round. (We like to smoke the jalapenos to make amazing chipotles.)

Fresh Berries  - We'll  plant an assortment of fresh berries that you can use to bake a pie, or  put some on your cereal. Our favorites are blueberries, marionberries,  blackberries, and raspberries.

Organic Orchard  - We can design and install an organic orchard full of fruit trees and berry vines, etc.

Organic Vegetable Garden  - In  addition to all the standards, we can plant ginger, lemongrass, and  shallots for those who love to cook ethnic cuisine; leeks and potatoes for soup; tomatillos for fresh salsa verde; and it's always nice to have fresh celery and herbs on hand for the day to day cooking.
